11 Survive Ghastly Auto Crash on Lagos-Ibadan Expressway

At least 11 people sustained varying degrees of injuries on Saturday following a head-on collision between two vehicles along the Magboro axis of the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.

One of the drivers reportedly fled the scene before emergency responders arrived.

While three passengers escaped unhurt, the injured victims were rushed to a nearby hospital for medical attention.

When contacted, the spokesperson for the Ogun State Sector Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps, Florence Okpe, confirmed the incident and attributed the crash to excessive speeding.

A total of 14 people were involved —10 males and four females. Of these, 11 sustained injuries, including seven men and four women.

Fortunately, no lives were lost,” Okpe stated.

She added that preliminary findings indicated that speeding led to one of the vehicles losing control, causing a direct impact.

“There were two vehicles involved, and the speed led to loss of control by one of them. In a disturbing turn, the second vehicle driver reportedly fled the scene,” she said.

Okpe added that an investigation into the incident is underway and urged members of the public to come forward with any information that could help identify and apprehend the fleeing driver.
