IOC President Commends Nigeria Sports Minister, Sen. John Enoh, for Visionary Leadership

In a high-level meeting held in Gangwon, South Korea, the host city of the Winter Youth Games, International Olympic Committee (IOC) President Thomas Bach extended praise to Nigeria’s Minister of Sports Development, Senator John Owan Enoh.

The meeting, taking place as Nigeria participates in the Youth Winter Olympic Games, centred on strategic preparations for the upcoming 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

President Bach specifically commended Minister Enoh for his visionary leadership and dedication to sports development in Nigeria. The Minister’s active participation in the Winter Youth Games exemplifies his hands-on approach and personal commitment to fostering sports growth in Nigeria.

Acknowledging Senator Enoh’s efforts, President Bach recognized the minister’s commitment to promoting sports internationally and creating opportunities for young athletes. In response, Minister John Owan Enoh expressed gratitude for President Bach’s leadership in preparing for the 2024 Olympics. He highlighted the importance of global collaboration for the success of major sporting events and assured President Bach of Nigeria’s active contribution to the Olympic movement.

Over the weekend, Nigeria made history as the first African country to participate in the curling event at the Youth Winter Olympics, which commenced on January 19 and runs until February 1, 2024.
