INEC DENIES TAMPERING WITH VOTERS’ LIST FOR 2022 ELECTIONS

In advance of the 2023 election, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has denied tampering with the voter list. The Continuous Voter Registration (CVR), which started in January, was finished by the electoral umpire on July 31.

Festus Okoye, the INEC’s Director of Information and Voter Education, reported on Thursday that no new registrants had been added. The commissioner stated that such action would only be taken following the conclusion of additional activities required by law.

The Register of Voters for the General Election of 2023 has not yet been updated with any new registrants, Okoye emphasized. The commission is cleaning up the Automated Biometric Identification System (ABIS) by carefully reviewing each record, the spokesman revealed.

Okoye gave the assurance that INEC would keep the public informed of the developments in the proceedings.
