Residents of Fapo village, in the Lapai Local Government Area of Niger State, were thrown into panic on Sunday as bandits in their numbers attacked the community, killing at least four persons.
Our correspondents were reliably informed that the bandits kidnapped about 15 people, whilst eight others were severely injured.
According to an eyewitness, upon storming the village, the bandits shot sporadically and operated for hours without any form of interference from security operatives.
He described the attack as being the first of its kind “We have never experienced such an attack before; the attack is horrible considering the number of deaths recorded as well as injuries,” he said.
The residents most especially families of victims of the attack urged the government and security agencies to rise to their responsibility in securing lives and property to avoid future devastating attacks in the community, they demanded that those responsible for the attacks be apprehended and justice served.
Calls to the state Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Wasiu Abiodun, were not picked up or returned as of the time of filing this report.
