POLICE RESCUE TWO FROM LYNCHING FOR REPORTEDLY BEING IN POSSESSION OF A DEAD CHILD

The Lagos State Police have rescued two men from being lynched by a mob in the Oshodi Area of Lagos State for traveling with the corpse of a child.

According to information made available to our Correspondents, the corpse was that of a 10-year-old who fell ill at midnight and died before his family members could rush him to a hospital for treatment.

Being residents of Ikwo village in Ebonyi, the family decided to convey his body back home for interment, The task fell on his father and a yet-to-be-identified member of the family.

Following the child’s death, his family members decided to convey his corpse to their hometown in Ikwo village, Ebonyi State, for burial.

When they got to the Oshodi terminal to purchase bus tickets for the journey, some people noticed the dead child and descended on the duo heavily.

The Makonde Police Station was alerted, and in a swift response The policemen reportedly rescued the two men and during the investigation, it was revealed that the deceased child was sired by one of the assaulted victims.

It was learned that the deceased’s mother, who was at their residence in the state, was also contacted and she corroborated the claims of her husband.

The state Police Public Relations Officer, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, who confirmed the incident, said the corpse had been deposited in a mortuary.
