SIBLINGS ATTACK AND PHYSICALLY ASSAULT AMOTEKUN PERSONNEL, SUSPECTS ON TRIAL

Four men have been arraigned before a magistrate’s court sitting in Akure, Ondo State, for allegedly beating an official of the state security outfit, also known as Amotekun.

The defendants included three siblings, Mimo Ogunmakin, Doyin Ogunmakin, and Oloruntosin Ogunmakin.

The fourth suspect was identified as Olaiya Alawoesokan.

They were arrested and arraigned on charges of conspiracy with others at large.

The men were said to have attacked the officer, identified as Oluwasegun Omoloro, at his duty post at the Amotekun office in the Irele Local Government Area of the state.

The defendants were charged with conspiracy and assault occasioning harm.

The offenses contravened sections 516A and 355 of the Criminal Code Law, Cap. 37, Laws of Ondo State, 2006

The state counsel, Mr. O.F. Akeredolu, prayed to the court for an adjournment to enable him to prepare for the trial.

Furthermore, the defense counsel, Mr. O. Bernard, prayed the court to admit his clients to bail in liberal terms, promising to provide reliable sureties.

The magistrate, Damilola Sekoni, granted the defendants bail in the sum of N200,000 with one surety in like sum and adjourned the case until November 26 for hearing.
