45 -year -old Man beats wife to death over school ownership in Ogun State

A 45-year-old man, identified by the police as Segun Omotosho, has reportedly beaten his wife, Olubukola Omotosho, to death over her refusal to allow him take over a private school belonging to her.

The man was arrested by men of Ogun State Police Command, following a complaint lodged at the Kemta divisional headquarters, by the deceased’s elder sister.

The sister had reported that the 42-year-old Olubukola was beaten and seriously injured by her husband, who later rushed her to the Federal Medical Centre, Idi-Aba Abeokuta for medical attention.

However, she was said to have given up the ghost while receiving treatment.

“Unknown to the husband, the deceased had sent a voice note to her family members, informing them that her husband has used a padlock to hit her on the head while beating her, and that if she died, they should be aware that it was her husband that killed her,” the police spokesperson, Abimbola Oyeyemi, told newsmen on Monday.

Oyeyemi said the husband fled immediately the voice note was played to his hearing, “having realized that his evil deed had been exposed.”

Upon the report and the recording evidence, the DPO of Kemta division, CSP Adeniyi Adekunle, had detailed his detectives to go after the husband and fish him out.

Oyeyemi revealed that the suspect was subsequently traced to Akinseku village, Abeokuta where he hibernated, and he was promptly apprehended.

“Preliminary investigation revealed that their incessant quarrel was because the deceased built a private school in the name of herself and the husband, but the husband who is a carpenter had wanted to take over the control of the school but the deceased who was an NCE graduate refused,” Oyeyemi said.

This, he said, was the reason the suspect had always been beating hiswife until the day “he used the iron padlock to hit her on the head, which eventually led to her death.”

Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police, Lanre Bankole, has directed that the suspect be taken to the Homicide section of the State CIID for further investigation and prosecution.
