It was all a moment of silence, mourning and celebration as Retired Captain Chief Joseph Olorundare Alah was finally laid to rest on the 17th of February 2023.

The retired captain died on Saturday the 24th of December 2022 at age 79. On Thursday, February 16th the corpse was picked from the mortuary at saint John’s Catholic Hospital, kabba, Kogi State.

The funeral service started same day with a service of songs conducted by St. Thomas Catholic Church, Ogidi-Ijumu at his residence, Alah’s compound Ilaere Ogidi-Ijumu, Kogi State.

This was followed by Lying in State and Christian Wake Keep at his residence.

However, the burial mass was held at 10am on Friday, February 17th at St. Thomas Catholic Church, Ogidi-Ijumu, kogi state. Interment followed immediately at his residence, Alah’s compound, Ilaere Ogidi-Ijumu. While reception of guests took place shortly after the interment at St. Thomas Catholic Church’s compound, Ogidi-Ijumu, Kogi State.

Many described him to be an icon of peace, a Christian and devoted Catholic, belonging to many associations in the church both in Lagos and his hometown.

Until his demise, he was the Alah of Ogidi land, a very senior chieftain title where he served creditably.

Retired Captain Joseph Alah was a sport enthusiast, particularly in squash racket, winning many competitions among his peer.

 

Family members described him as a loving, caring and generous man, and was a role model to all with his exemplary personality.

Retired Captain Chief Joseph Olorundare Alah was survived by his Wife, Children, and Grandchildren.
