The Ogun state governor, Dapo Abiodun, has been called upon the Ogun State Chapter of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN to rehabilitate the state’s first stadium, Muda Lawal Stadium.

The Muda Lawal Stadium is the state’s first stadium, and it was renamed after one of the late sons of the state, Mudashiru Lawal, a member of the victorious Green Eagles that won the Nation’s Cup in 1980.

In a statement, “The Congress commends the Ogun State government for the rehabilitation of MKO Abiola Stadium but urged the government to rehabilitate the main bowl of the stadium, which the NFF had banned from hosting any football event.

“The Congress called for an extension of the gesture to other Stadia across the state. The Congress also called for the rehabilitation of the Mundo turf at the MKO Abiola stadium, Kuto, Abeokuta, which is in a dilapidated state.”

The stadium is located along Ibadan-Abeokuta road and is a national edifice where its main bowl is only good enough for growing cassava, and maize, and is a hideout for hoodlums.
