2026 World Cup Qualifiers: Super Eagles Climb to 4th Place with 2-0 Victory in Rwanda
Nigeria revitalized their 2026 World Cup qualifying campaign with a 2-0 victory over Rwanda on Friday night, marking the first match for new head coach Eric Chelle.
Victor Osimhen showcased his scoring prowess with both goals in the first half. The Galatasaray star opened the scoring with a calmly taken side-footed shot from a free-kick delivered by Ademola Lookman. He then doubled the lead by intercepting the ball at the halfway line and deftly chipping it over the goalkeeper.
With this win, the three-time African champions climbed to 4th place in their group, following South Africa’s 2-0 triumph over Lesotho. Chelle’s team will next face Zimbabwe on Tuesday March 25.
