An outpouring of emotions marked the farewell ceremony for the late Pa Joseph Ayodele Ogunsi, who passed away at 83.

 

The funeral ceremonies, which began on Thursday, September 19, 2024, with a service of songs at Saint John’s Anglican Church, Ijoku, continued on Friday, September 20, 2024.

 

The day’s events commenced with family members picking up Pa Ogunsi’s remains from Express Junction, sagamu,and proceeding to his family residence in Baruwa, where prayers were offered and neighbors bid their final farewells. A lying-in-state ceremony followed, allowing loved ones to pay their respects.

The final funeral service, held at Saint John’s Anglican Church, was attended by a large gathering of mourners who celebrated Pa Ogunsi’s life well spent. The preacher emphasized the importance of living a good life, leaving a lasting impact on those present.

 

“Uncle Joe, as we fondly called him, was a devout Christian who dedicated his life to serving the Lord. His selflessness and kindness knew no bounds. His legacy will continue to inspire us to live a life of service and compassion.” A church member said.

The burial ceremony was followed by an elaborate reception at the Methodist Theological Institute Hall, where the Police Band, Abeokuta, entertained the audience with melodious music.
