Frustrated youths in Sagamu have issued a final warning to the Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company (IBEDC) over persistent power outages, vowing to take drastic action if electricity is not restored immediately. The Sagamu Youth Association (SYA) alleges that IBEDC’s negligence has paralyzed businesses, disrupted education, and endangered lives in hospitals relying on electricity.
Despite interventions by traditional leaders and police, the blackout has worsened, sparking outrage over inflated bills despite near-zero power supply. IBEDC blames aging infrastructure and gas shortages, but residents dismiss these as excuses, accusing the company of extortion.
With tensions reaching a boiling point, community leaders urge state and federal authorities to intervene before protests erupt. *”We’re tired of empty promises,”* said SYA leader Comrade Olugbenga Isiaka Lawal. *”IBEDC must act now—or face the consequences.”
