Public transport users in Sagamu are expressing concerns over the poor condition of most public transport cabs and buses. They claim that most of these vehicles are not roadworthy and are putting their lives at risk. They also argue that it is not enough for the authorities to collect fees from drivers, but they should also monitor the condition of the vehicles, especially now that transport fares have increased.

According to a concerned public transport user, “Most of these buses and cars are in a bad state. Some of them stop suddenly in the middle of the road, while some have expired tires already. Most of them don’t even have fire extinguishers in case of emergency, but they keep carrying us and collecting money.” The public transport users are calling on the authorities to act to ensure the safety of commuters.

The complaints about the condition of public transport vehicles come at a time when transport fares have increased. Public transport users are calling on the authorities to not only monitor the condition of the vehicles, but also ensure that drivers comply with safety regulations. They believe that this will go a long way in ensuring the safety of commuters and restoring their confidence in public transport.
