Nigerian Army Denies Rumors of Coup Against Tinubu Government

The Nigerian Army has responded to the rumors circulating about a possible coup against the administration of President Bola Tinubu, calling them “fake news.” The reports, which surfaced on Sunday, claimed that the presidential guards were on high alert due to suspicions of a coup plot in Nigeria.

However, the Nigerian Army has dismissed these claims, labeling them as false. They even shared one of the reports on their official page, clearly stating “FAKE NEWS.” The Army’s response aims to address the growing concerns and quell any speculation surrounding the alleged coup plot.

It is important to note that tensions have been rising in Nigeria due to economic challenges, including rising inflation, the high cost of living, and the removal of fuel subsidy and floating of the naira under President Tinubu’s administration.

However, the Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa, recently issued a warning against calls for a coup, urging people to refrain from such actions.
