Estate Consultant Owoeye Denies Land Grabbing Allegations Before Ogun Assembly

Renowned estate consultant and developer, Alhaji Mutairu Owoeye, has firmly denied allegations of land grabbing brought against him by members of the Odeda Community Area Community Development Committee (CDC).

The accusations were presented to the Ogun State House of Assembly by petitioners Bode Adeaga, Mr. Okodua, Mr. Ikeanabi, and other community members, claiming Owoeye unlawfully took possession of their land in the Obadaoko area of Abeokuta.

Appearing before the Assembly through his lawyer, Owoeye described the allegations as baseless and an attempt to tarnish his reputation. “There is no iota of truth in the allegations made against me. It is a mere misrepresentation of facts calculated to tarnish my image by mischief-makers,” he stated.

To support his defense, Owoeye presented documents verifying that he legitimately purchased the disputed land from the Lasabi Openifa family, the acknowledged original owners. He emphasized, “I bought the land in question directly from the rightful family, the Lasabi Openifa family. They are the original owners of the land. I did not encroach on the land as falsely alleged.”

Owoeye also refuted claims of causing chaos, destroying properties, and illegally evicting residents. He maintained his stance as a law-abiding citizen, urging those aggrieved to seek legal recourse rather than spreading false accusations. “I am not in any way involved in land-grabbing, and I was not hired to invade any community with firearms or displace anybody to gain access to their farmland,” he assured.

Expressing his appreciation for the Assembly’s efforts to uncover the truth, Owoeye concluded, “I commend the lawmakers for their quest to unravel the truth, which will help address the dispute.”
