Former Super Eagles winger Okwuchukwu Waobikeze has passed away.

Former Super Eagles winger and skillful left-footed attacker, Okwuchukwu ‘Allen’ Waobikeze, has died.

His passing comes just days after the death of former Super Eagles captain and goalkeeper, Peter Rufai.

Affectionately called ‘Babaoo’ by fans and peers, Waobikeze was celebrated for his powerful left foot and exceptional ball control.

Although his appearances for the Super Eagles were limited due to fierce competition within the team, he made a lasting impact in Nigerian domestic football, representing clubs such as Sharks FC of Port Harcourt, BCC Lions of Gboko, and Iwuanyanwu Nationale (now Heartland FC).

His passing was confirmed on Monday by his brother, Eli Waobikeze, in a statement shared on his Facebook account.

“On behalf of the Waobikeze family, I would like to announce the peaceful passing to eternal glory of my brother Allen Okwuchukwu Waobikeze. He transitioned at about 7:34 pm CST.

We are grateful to everyone who prayed for, called, and visited my brother, Okwuchukwu Waobikeze. All funeral arrangements will be shared in due course.

“Please continue to keep our family in your prayers as we prepare to bid farewell to our beloved brother. God bless you all,” he wrote.
