Otunba Taiwo Abdulrasaq OYEBANJO, a distinguished community leader, accomplished entrepreneur, and boardroom titan, stands as a beacon of dedication and progress for the Iperu community.
Fondly known as “Avalon,” his life is a testament to humility, resilience, and a steady commitment to the development of his beloved hometown, Iperu, in Ogun State, Nigeria.
Born with a passion for service, Otunba OYEBANJO has carved an illustrious path in both corporate and community spheres. His professional journey saw him rose to the pinnacle of corporate leadership, serving as the Deputy General Manager at Consolidated Breweries PLC, Agbara Plant, and as the Acting Managing Director of DIL/Maltex PLC, also in Agbara.
After a distinguished career, he chose to retire voluntarily and return to his roots in Iperu, where he has since channeled his expertise and resources into transforming his community.
As a successful entrepreneur, Otunba OYEBANJO founded Avalon Suites and Gardens, a premier hospitality establishment in Iperu that has not only elevated the town’s socio-economic landscape but also created opportunities for residents. His entrepreneurial acumen and boardroom experience have been pivotal in driving sustainable development initiatives, making him a respected figure both locally and beyond.
Otunba OYEBANJO’s journey in community service is equally remarkable. His leadership within the Iperu Development Association (IDA) began years ago when he served as an Auditor in the then Iperu Community Development Association. His dedication saw him take on key roles, including Vice Chairman and later Chairman of the Akesan Day Celebrations Planning Committee in 2016 and 2017. In 2018, he became the Vice Chairman of the IDA, serving under Chief Babajide OYETI with humility, loyalty, and an unrelenting drive to advance the association’s goals. His efforts were instrumental in revitalizing the IDA from a state of dormancy, setting the stage for transformative achievements.
On May 25, 2024, Otunba OYEBANJO’s exemplary service culminated in his election as the President of the Iperu Development Association, a position he assumed unopposed at the IDA Plaza, Atenda, Iperu, venue of the election. Declared by the Chairman of the IDA Electoral Committee, Mr. Sakiru SODIPO, his ascension marked a new chapter in the association’s history.
Known for his philosophy that “all comments deserve a response, but not all comments you must actually respond to,” Otunba OYEBANJO embodies a leadership style that is measured, yet impactful, earning him the reputation of a man of less words, but much action.
Under his leadership, the IDA has continued to thrive, building on the foundation laid by his predecessor, Chief Babajide OYETI. Otunba OYEBANJO has spearheaded initiatives such as the Eyo Akesan Celebration, Boundary Adjustment, Investment Potentials, and Estate Development Committees. His tenure has also witnessed the resolution of a long-standing leadership crisis within the Iperu Muslim Community, fostering unity and peace.
Furthermore, he inaugurated committees to celebrate illustrious indigenes, including the first female Accountant General of the Federation, Dr. (Mrs.) Oluwatoyin Shakirat MADEIN on her retirement from the federal civil service, and the Balogun and Babaoba of Iperu, and the Odole Oodua, Sir Dr. Kesington ADEBUTU, GCON, on his 90th birthday. A landmark achievement during his presidency is the commencement of commercial flight operations at the Gateway International Airport, Iperu, a milestone that promises to boost the town’s economic prospects.
In his post-election speech titled “The Future Starts Now,” Otunba OYEBANJO expressed his gratitude to his supporters and outlined his vision to collaborate with prominent Iperu indigenes, including the Governor of Ogun State, Prince Dapo ABIODUN CON, Sir Kesington ADEBUTU, GCON, and Dr. (Mrs.) Oluwatoyin MADEIN, among many others, to drive meaningful development. He also paid glowing tribute to Chief Babajide OYETI acknowledging his predecessor’s exceptional leadership in elevating the IDA to a respected institution.
Otunba OYEBANJO’s life is a celebration of silent achievement, marked by a deep love for his community and a relentless pursuit of progress. His contributions have not only transformed Iperu but have also inspired countless individuals to believe in the power of collective effort and visionary leadership.
As we celebrate Otunba Taiwo Abdulrasaq OYEBANJO on his birthday, we pray for his continued good health, long life, and divine wisdom to lead Iperu to greater heights. May his tenure as IDA President usher in unprecedented progress, unity, and prosperity for Iperu Akesanland, fostering a community that all its sons, daughters, and residents can take pride in.
Wishing a true silent achiever whose legacy will endure for generations to come, a happy birthday.
