Osun 2026: INEC to Engage Stakeholders in Campaign Protocols, Voter Registration.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced March 11, 2026, as the official start date for political campaigns ahead of the Osun State governorship election. This announcement was made by INEC’s Osun Resident Electoral Commissioner, Dr. Mutiu Agboke, during an expanded stakeholders’ meeting held in Osogbo to mark the beginning of the second phase of the Continuous Voter Registration (CVR).
Dr. Agboke explained that the campaign timeline would be officially communicated to all political parties and actors, in accordance with the Electoral Act and relevant guidelines. He assured stakeholders that INEC would soon hold further meetings to brief political parties on the detailed protocols and conduct expected during the campaign period, emphasizing the importance of adhering to established rules for a credible electoral process.
The INEC commissioner highlighted the significance of collaboration and collective responsibility in ensuring a transparent election. Reflecting on the success of the first phase of CVR, Agboke credited early cooperation between INEC and stakeholders for the smooth operation. He stressed that similar collaborative efforts would be employed in the second phase to build on previous successes.
To improve voter access, Agboke announced plans to rotate the registration equipment across communities, allowing voters to participate in the CVR directly in their local areas. He noted that stakeholders had expressed support for this initiative and committed to cooperating fully to ensure its success.
Agboke called for continued unity and understanding among all parties involved, emphasizing that a well-coordinated approach would help deliver a credible election in Osun State. As preparations intensify, INEC remains committed to transparent processes and inclusive participation in the upcoming governorship election.
