Labour Party Leadership Urged to Embrace Judicial Verdict and Foster Party Unity.

Abia State Governor, Alex Otti, has issued a call for reconciliation within the Labour Party (LP), specifically addressing the Julius Abure-led faction. Otti urged the faction to “turn a new leaf” by sheathing their swords and respecting the recent judgment of the Federal High Court, which recognized the leadership of Nenadi Usman as the legitimate national chairperson of the party.

In a statement through his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Ferdinand Ekeoma, Otti described the court’s ruling as sound and a victory for democracy. He emphasized the importance of unity and stability within the party and expressed his willingness to forgive and reintegrate the Abure faction, provided they demonstrate a commitment to lawful conduct and respect the judiciary’s decision.

Otti also appealed to all parties involved in the ongoing litigations against the Labour Party to accept the court ruling and cease further legal disputes. He highlighted that the court’s decision aligns with an earlier ruling by the Supreme Court, reinforcing the legitimacy of the Usman-led executive.

The governor praised those who stood by the party during its turbulent period, thanking supporters for their resilience and dedication to democratic principles. He urged the national leadership of the Labour Party to seize this opportunity to foster peace, unity, and justice within the party, in accordance with its constitution and core values.

Otti’s call underscores the need for internal reconciliation to ensure the party’s stability ahead of future electoral challenges. He emphasized that genuine unity and adherence to judicial decisions are essential for the party’s growth and relevance in Nigeria’s political landscape.
