The Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, has praised Kano State Governor Abba Yusuf following his return to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

According to the Media, Yusuf officially rejoined the APC on Monday at the Kano Government House’s Coronation Hall. Previously a member of the APC, Yusuf contested and won the 2023 governorship election under the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP). His defection to the APC was alongside several members of the Kano State House of Assembly and the House of Representatives.

Yusuf was formally welcomed back into the APC by prominent party leaders, including former National Chairman Abdullahi Ganduje, who is also a former governor of Kano State; Senate Deputy President Barau Jibrin representing Kano South; Minister of State for Housing and Urban Development Yusuf Ata; and other top officials.

In his speech, Yusuf explained that his return was motivated by a desire to work more closely with the Federal Government under President Bola Tinubu’s leadership. He emphasized that the decision was made collectively with key political stakeholders in Kano and was rooted in the need to support President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which aims to foster development and growth in Kano State.

The governor clarified that his move was driven by a commitment to peace, unity, and progress, rather than personal interests or negative considerations. He also pointed out that aligning with the central government would help end what he called “isolation politics” and accelerate development within the state.

Yusuf expressed confidence that this political alignment would bring a more stable and peaceful atmosphere to Kano, while reaffirming that it would not diminish the contributions of those who supported his rise to power. He assured residents that his administration would remain inclusive, with no group or individual left out.

Reacting to the development, Keyamo took to his verified X (formerly Twitter) account on Tuesday to welcome the governor back to the APC. He commended Yusuf for prioritizing the welfare of the people over loyalty to any individual, stating, “My dear brother, H.E. Gov. Abba Kabir Yusuf, welcome back home to the APC. With your giant strides in Kano as a true progressive governor, it feels like you never left the APC. History will record that you prioritized the welfare of your people over and above blind loyalty to anyone.”
