Sagamu Local Government Reclaims Government Land Along Sagamu–Ikenne Road

On Monday, 9th February 2026, the Executive Chairman of Sagamu Local Government Area, Ogun State, Ogbeni Jubril Odulate, alongside members of his committee, led an official inspection and awareness exercise on a government-owned land located along the Sagamu–Ikenne Road.

The exercise, which doubled as a press briefing, was aimed at reclaiming the land from illegal occupants and informing the public that the property belongs solely to the government. Ogbeni Jubril Odulate stated that the land had been unlawfully taken over by individuals who cut down existing rubber trees and converted the area into an illegal business zone by selling plots of land to unsuspecting members of the public.

According to the chairman, the land was originally a government-owned rubber plantation before it was encroached upon. He therefore directed an immediate halt to all ongoing construction and activities on the site, warning that the local government would not condone illegal land sales or unauthorized development.

Ogbeni Jubril Odulate further revealed that the reclaimed land has been earmarked for the development of a new Government Reserved Area (GRA) in Sagamu. He explained that the project is intended to create a well-planned residential environment that will enhance urban development and orderly settlement within the local government area.

While addressing journalists, the chairman also highlighted some ongoing infrastructural projects under his administration. He disclosed that construction work is currently ongoing on a new Executive Chairman’s Office, noting that the former office was not befitting for the status of the local government leadership. According to him, the project has been in progress for about three months and is expected to be completed within the next two months, by April 2026.

The chairman reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to transparency, infrastructural development, and the protection of government assets. He also advised members of the public to always verify land ownership through the appropriate government channels before making any land-related transactions.
