Tinubu Approves Posting of Fani-Kayode, Omokri, Dambazau, 62 Others as Ambassadors
President Bola Tinubu has approved the posting of 65 ambassadors-designate and high commissioners to various countries and international organisations.
The announcement was made in a statement issued by the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga.
According to the statement, the envoys comprise 34 non-career and 31 career ambassadors who have now been assigned to their respective diplomatic missions.
Among the notable appointments, former Minister of Aviation, Femi Fani-Kayode, has been posted to Germany, while former presidential aide, Reno Omokri, will serve as Nigeria’s ambassador to Mexico.
Former Minister of Interior, Lt. Gen. Abdulrahman Dambazau (retd.), has been assigned to Beijing, China, while Senator Jimoh Ibrahim will serve as Nigeria’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations.
Other prominent postings include former Abia State governor, Okezie Ikpeazu, to Spain; former Minister of Health, Prof. Isaac Adewole, to Canada; and Senator Ita Enang to South Africa.
Also on the list are Grace Bent to Togo, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi to Greece, Lateef Kayode Are to the United States, Ayodele Oke to France, and Fatima Ajimobi to Austria.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has been directed to commence induction programmes for the envoys, who are expected to assume duty after receiving approval from their host countries.
