BATORO ANNUAL ORO FESTIVAL 2026 ENDS IN GRAND STYLE AS TRADITION, UNITY TAKE CENTRE STAGE
The ancient town of Batoro came alive as sons and daughters of the community gathered to celebrate the 2026 Annual Oro Festival, a cultural and traditional event dedicated to preserving the rich heritage of the people while promoting peace, unity, and community development.
The three-phase celebration, held on Sunday, June 28, Monday, June 29, and Friday, July 10, 2026, attracted traditional rulers, chiefs, indigenes, and visitors from within and outside Ogun State.
The festivities commenced on Sunday, June 28, with the Odun Isu celebration at the palace of the Lowa Ibu of Batoro, Oba Dr. Adesegun Adedapo Ogunsola (Ojudun II, Sodunjo III). In keeping with tradition, newly harvested yam was prepared and served to the monarch, chiefs, and members of the community as a symbol of gratitude for a successful harvest and prayers for continued abundance, peace, and prosperity. The occasion also brought residents together in an atmosphere of unity, thanksgiving, and cultural pride.
Later in the evening, the community hosted a colourful Ladies’ Night, where women showcased Batoro’s rich cultural heritage through music, dance, and traditional displays, highlighting their vital role in preserving the customs and traditions of the town.
Activities continued on Monday, June 29, with various traditional rites performed in accordance with the customs of the land. Community elders and custodians of tradition led the sacred ceremonies, reaffirming the Oro Festival’s role in promoting morality, peace, communal harmony, and respect for the cultural values of Batoro.
The festival reached its grand finale on Friday, July 10, 2026, drawing a large gathering of traditional rulers, chiefs, community stakeholders, dignitaries, and well-wishers. The event began with the Lowa Ibu of Batoro, Oba Dr. Adesegun Adedapo Ogunsola (Ojudun II, Sodunjo III), warmly receiving and welcoming guests and members of the community.
Among the royal fathers in attendance were the Radanuwa of Idado, Oba Musiliu Oriyomi Soile; Odogun of Ipoji, Oba Olatunji Osho; The Oloke of Oke Ariko, Oba Dr. Olayinka Oladunni; The Alado of Ado, and several other traditional rulers, whose presence underscored the significance of the annual festival.
The celebration was further enlivened by an electrifying performance from renowned Fuji musician Alhaji Musiliu Haruna Ishola, whose live band entertained guests with a series of captivating musical performances, bringing excitement and glamour to the colourful cultural event.
The grand finale concluded on a high note with an energetic musical display by Alhaji Musiliu Haruna Ishola, as guests celebrated into the evening, marking a successful end to the 2026 Batoro Annual Oro Festival and reaffirming the community’s commitment to preserving its rich cultural heritage for generations to come.
