The Collectives, OOUTH Partner for Four-Day Free Health Screening in Sagamu

Residents of Sagamu and neighbouring communities have been encouraged to take advantage of a four-day Free Health Screening Week organised by The Collectives with the support of the Olabisi Onabanjo University Teaching Hospital (OOUTH), Sagamu, in a renewed effort to promote preventive healthcare and improve access to essential medical services.
The health outreach, scheduled to hold from Tuesday, August 11 to Friday, August 14, 2026, will take place at the Collectives Club House, 15 Paddy Arikawe Street, GRA Quarters, Sagamu, from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. daily.
The initiative is expected to provide hundreds of residents with free access to medical screening, professional consultations and selected treatment services, offering an opportunity for individuals to assess their health status and receive expert medical advice without financial cost.
According to the organisers, the programme will feature a comprehensive range of health services, including blood tests, haemoglobin (HB) tests, prostate-specific antigen (PSA) screening, diabetes screening, cholesterol tests, eye examinations and free medical consultations.
Participants requiring medical attention after assessment will also benefit from free medications where appropriate, while eligible beneficiaries will receive reading glasses. The programme will further provide referrals for cataract surgery for qualified patients, expanding access to specialised eye care for those in need.
As part of the week-long outreach, Thursday, August 13, has been designated for specialised eye care and dental services, including eye examinations, teeth scaling and professional dental cleaning.
The organisers said the outreach reflects a shared commitment to encouraging preventive healthcare by promoting routine medical examinations capable of detecting illnesses before they become life-threatening. They noted that regular screening remains one of the most effective ways of identifying underlying health conditions early, improving treatment outcomes and reducing preventable complications.
Members of the public, particularly adults who have not undergone routine medical examinations in recent years, are encouraged to participate in the exercise. Community leaders, faith-based organisations, market associations and youth groups have also been urged to mobilise residents and help spread awareness to ensure wider participation.
With healthcare costs remaining a challenge for many families, the organisers expressed optimism that the free screening programme will enable more residents to access quality healthcare services, receive timely medical guidance and take informed decisions about their health.
The four-day outreach is open to members of the public and will run daily from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Collectives Club House, GRA Quarters, Sagamu, throughout the exercise.
