Maduka Okoye Set to Join Super Eagles Camp Ahead of Madagascar Clash
Super Eagles goalkeeper Maduka Okoye is expected to join Nigeria’s camp in Uyo on Thursday ahead of the team’s 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Madagascar.
Okoye was the only player yet to join the 24-man squad as 23 players took part in the team’s first training session in Uyo on Tuesday.
According to Super Eagles media officer Promise Efoghe, Okoye was granted permission to attend to family and personal matters before joining the team. He is expected to arrive in camp on Thursday, a day before Nigeria’s opening qualifier.
The Udinese goalkeeper was also in Milan earlier in the week for the unveiling of the club’s 2026/27 third kit during Milan Fashion Week. Udinese confirmed his participation in the kit presentation.
Nigeria will face Madagascar at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo on Friday, September 25, before taking on Guinea-Bissau on September 29.
Okoye’s arrival is expected to complete Nigeria’s squad ahead of the two qualifiers.
