Teachers’ Day: Ogun SUBEB Boss, Ifede, Lauds Educators as Pillars of Foundational Learning
As educators worldwide marked World Teachers’ Day, the Chairman of Ogun State Universal Basic Education Board, Evangelist Olalekan Ifede, has eulogized teachers in the state, describing them as the bedrock upon which functional basic education is built.
Evangelist Ifede, in a goodwill message applauded school teachers for their steadfastness and commitment to moulding children at their formative stage.
According to him, the role of a teacher goes beyond lesson notes and classroom walls. He said teachers play a critical role in instilling morals, discipline and life skills that shape children into responsible adults.
He stated that SUBEB under his watch places high premium on teachers, noting that no meaningful progress can be made in the drive for improved literacy and numeracy without a motivated teaching workforce.
The SUBEB Chairman also used the occasion to highlight the Prince Dapo Abiodun-led administration’s interventions in the basic education sub-sector. He listed prompt payment of salaries and allowances, elevation of teachers to appropriate grade levels, and the release of funds for school infrastructure as some of the government’s efforts aimed at boosting teachers’ morale.
Ifede further disclosed that the Board has continued to roll out reforms to strengthen teaching standards, including leadership training for headteachers, introduction of digital tools for monitoring and learning, and a transparent, merit-based selection process for school leadership.
He reaffirmed that the Board remains focused on creating a more supportive and enabling atmosphere for both teachers and pupils across all public primary schools in the state.
While congratulating teachers on their special day, he urged them to remain dedicated and innovative in the discharge of their duties, assuring them that their contributions to building Ogun’s future will not go unnoticed.
