Outstanding Students In Ijebu-Ode Receives Awards.
Omo Obanta Association of Ijebu-Ode has rewarded outstanding learners in the 6 Local Government Areas in Ijebu bloc with cash award while they also donates items to schools for children with special needs in the axis.
Speaking at the event, held at Ijebu Ode Grammar School and School for Children with Special Needs, Ijebu-Ode respectively, the Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Prof. Abayomi Arigbabu said the awardees were selected through an essay competition that was put together by the association, which saw (three) 3 best students each from 10 schools across the 6 LGAs.
The commissioner said the initiative was to encouraged the beneficiaries to continue to pursue excellence in their studies and also motivates others to emulate such outstanding performance.
Arigbabu therefore advised the learners to emulate such initiatives by using their given resources to improve lives of others while he admonished parents to not relent in supporting their children academically in order to attain excellence.
In his remarks, the President of the association, Alhaji Akeem Kareem said the initiative was to give back to the society, by supporting learners in the axis with the needed support in their academics, with promised that such gesture would be continuous, he therefore encouraged the learners to continue to give their best towards achieving success in life.
