CCLGG Hold Political Parley, Interactive Session With Political Candidates In Remo    By: Ogunleye Oluwapelumi 

The committee on contemporary leadership and good governance, on Wednesday, 15th of February, held an interactive session and symposium with political candidates In Remo land. The session, as powered by the leagues of Imams and Alfas of Remo kingdom, is to show the interest of the Islamic community in Political activities.

The event held at Ansar-Ud-deen Hall, Makun Sagamu, had in attendance Islamic clerics, alphas and Imam among which is the Grand chief Imam of Remo land, Fadeelatu-Sheikh AbdulQadir Junaid who also doubled as the event chairman. Dr. Tajudeen Asaye, Wasiri Musulumi Ogun state. Dr. Semiu Bello, HOD mass communication department, Kwasu. Fadeelatu-Sheikh Yusuf, chief Imam Sabo Sagamu. Alhaji Inuwabrahim, Seriki Sabo community. Rufai Ibrahim, Wasiri Hausa communication.

 

The political candidates available for the session are; Hon. Olapeju Abiodun Ayodele, Hon. Bolarinwa Oluwole duly represented by Hassan Seriki and Bosun Davies, Omooba Muhammad Damilare Bello, Hon. Abdul Bashir Segun(SHITTA).

Speaking to the aspirant, the guest speaker, Dr. Tajudeen explained how important the forthcoming election is, and he advised that all aspirants should not see it as a do-or-die affair, but rather, a mandate of Allah, and whoever the winner is should see it as a service to humanity.

 

“It’s essential to note that leadership is the ability to build, and improve, and all our aspirants must remember that leadership is fundamental while followers are inevitable; hence, you must do anything to balance the odds.

 

“We are not here to appoint or endorse anyone. All we’ve come to do is hear your plans for Remo land, admonish and pray for you. Leadership belongs to Allah, and he gives it to anybody he wishes” Dr. Tajudeen added.

Hon. Abdul Bashir Segun(SHITTA), responding to a question from our correspondent on his advice to youth on the forthcoming election, he said, “Youths need to understand that of course this is a significant election in the history of Nigeria, but they need to be cautious and desist from fight or conflicts.

 

“They must go to the pooling units and vote. Their response to any politician who wants to use them as a negative instrument during election should be no. We want a better Nigeria, and together we can achieve that” he added.

 

The session was concluded with prayer from the grand chief Imam of Remo, who admonished youths and Nigerians to desist from violence, and speak only with their permanent voter’s card.
