Ogun Naira Scarcity: RemoGDF Condemns Attacks on Commercial Banks, IBEDC, Local Government Secretariat in Sagamu
The management council of Remo Growth and Development Foundation, (RemoGDF) has totally condemned the social unrest that broke out as a result of naira scarcity in Sagamu at the early hour of 6:00am on Monday, 20th February, 2023 that led to attacks on some commercial banks, Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company (IBEDC) and the Sagamu Local Government Secretariat.
The foundation has expressed total displeasure on the attacks and vandalization of commercial banks, IBEDC, the Local Government Secretariat buildings, and other valuable infrastructures in Sagamu by the angry demonstrators and protesters due to the scarcity of naira in circulation.
The RemoGDF’s management team pointed out that, the action by the demonstrators and protesters yesterday in Sagamu, Remo was barbaric, uncalled for and alien to the typical Remo Indegenes, knowingfully well that, the naira scarcity in not limited to Sagamu, Remoland, Ogun State alone.
However, the foundation’s management is sympathizing with His Royal Majesty, Oba (Dr.) Babatunde Adewale Ajayi, CFR, (Torungbuwa II), the Akarigbo and Paramount Ruler of Remoland, the management of affected commercial banks, IBDEC, Sagamu Local Government and the entire community for the unjustified social unrest caused by protesters and the colossal loss of their properties.
The RemoGDF’s management team advised Remo Youths, Indigenes and non-Indigenes to continue be law abiding citizens by maintaining peace and unity in and around Remoland, while charging the security agencies to apprehend the mastermind and unscrupulous elements in the society that orchestrated the deadly and barbaric act yesterday regardless of their religious and political inclinations.
