When a police officer is refined, tactful, and patient, he/she will achieve great results. Meet the new Public Relations Officer to Ogun State Police Command, Superintendent of Police Omolola Odutola.
The Ijebu-Ode-born police officer studied Law at Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ago Iwoye, Ogun State, and later proceeded to the University of Lagos for her Master’s in Criminology. She is a member of several professional bodies and associations which include the Nigeria Bar Association (NBA), the International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP), and the Nigeria Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) where she is an Associate.
She is a trained lawyer and a criminologist, who enlisted into the Nigeria Police Force as a Cadet Assistant Superintendent of Police as a member of ASP Course 25, 2012. Since then, she believed that human rights and emotional intelligence has a big role to play in crime fighting.
Her success during her first litmus test in the Police carried out at the Ondo State Command for 1 year as stipulated by the Police Act and Regulations for practical training, she was deployed to NPA Maritime Command Force Headquarters Annex, Kam Salem House, Obalende, Lagos; where she became the first female Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO of the Command. Her excellent contributions in four years won her many laurels at Kam Salem.
As of June 1st, 2023, the Inspector-General of Police, Usman Alkali Baba, CFR appointed SP Omolola as the new Police Public Relations Officer for the Ogun State Police Command. She took over from SP Abimbola Oyeyemi who has been redeployed to Oyo State for other professional policing duties.
The Ijebu-Ode-born police officer is dedicated to the Police Force and its ethics and values. She is committed to the enthronement of Human Rights in the society. She is consistent, vibrant, and result-oriented to the Police’s core function of maintaining law and order. She wants to see a society where crime is curtailed to the barest minimum.
In 2021, she was recognized for her exceptional work and character at the National CrimeWatch Magazine’s Annual Award Ceremony. The professionally trained criminologist, security enthusiast, and law enforcement officer, SP Omolola Odutola bagged the prestigious National CrimeWatch Award as the ‘Human Right Police Officer of the Year 2021.
