Meet Bosun Tijani, the newly appointed Minister of Communications, Innovation, and Digital Economy and a remarkable force in the African technology ecosystem.
Though Olatunbosun Tijani has roots with the Egbas in Abeokuta, Ogun State; Olatunbosun Tijani was born 20th of July in Agege, Lagos State where he spent his formative years there before moving to Abeokuta, Ogun State for his secondary education.
He later proceeded to the University of Jos where he bagged two degrees – A diploma in Computer Science and a Bachelor’s Degree He went further to pursue a master’s degree in Information Systems and Management from Warwick Business School in the United Kingdom. To top it, Bosun just concluded a Ph.D. program in Innovation and Economic Development at the University of Leicester.
It was during his working duration as a Management Consultant for McKinsey & Company that he discovered his true passion for using technology to solve social problems and had since gone out of his comfort zone to make his passion a reality.
In 2008, he co-founded Co-Creation Hub (CcHUB), a leading Pan-African innovation and technology center. From its humble beginnings in Yaba, CcHub has grown to become a significant catalyst for tech advancement in Africa by empowering young people with the tools, communities, and capital they need to launch impactful ventures. Under Tijani’s leadership, CcHUB has become a hub for innovation and entrepreneurship, supporting the launch of over 1,000 startups and providing training and support to over 100,000 individuals.
Tijani is not only an advocate for using technology to improve the lives of Africans but has also played a crucial role in developing policies and programs that promote digital inclusion. His dedication and expertise led to his appointment as the Minister of Communications, Innovation, and Digital Economy of the Federal Republic of Nigeria in 2023.
In this role, he is responsible for spearheading the growth of Nigeria’s digital economy through the implementation of forward-thinking policies. Bosun Tijani’s vision and unwavering commitment continue to shape the future of technology and entrepreneurship in Africa. He is a tireless advocate for the use of technology to solve social problems.
