In a thrilling last-16 clash at the Africa Cup of Nations, Nigeria emerged victorious over their arch-rivals Cameroon with a 2-0 win.
Ademola Lookman stole the show with a stellar performance, scoring both goals to secure Nigeria’s spot in the quarter-finals. The match had its fair share of drama, with an early goal from Semi Ajayi disallowed after a VAR review. However, the relentless pressure exerted by Victor Osimhen eventually paid off, as Lookman found the back of the net in the 36th minute.
The Super Eagles displayed their defensive prowess, keeping the Indomitable Lions at bay until Lookman sealed the victory in the 90th minute.
The stage is now set for an exciting quarter-final showdown between Nigeria and Angola at the Felix Houphouet Boigny Stadium in Abidjan. Nigeria’s impressive performance against Cameroon has undoubtedly boosted their confidence, and they will be eager to continue their winning streak.
Angola, who secured a convincing 3-0 victory over Namibia earlier, will be no pushover.
