African Football’s Finest Recognized at CAF Awards 2024

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has announced the winners of its prestigious awards for 2024. Nigeria’s Ademola Lookman, South Africa’s Ronwen Williams, and Nigeria’s Chiamaka Nnadozie were among the top awardees.

The CAF Awards 2024 celebrated the best of African football, recognizing the outstanding achievements of players, coaches, and teams across the continent.

Lookman, who plays for Nigeria and Atalanta, took home the coveted CAF Men’s Player of the Year award. He edged out stiff competition from Simon Adingra, Achraf Hakimi, Williams, and Serhou Guirassy. “It’s an incredible honor to be recognized as the best player in Africa,” Lookman said, expressing his gratitude for the award. Williams, on the other hand, had a remarkable night, winning both the Men’s Interclub Player of the Year and Men’s Goalkeeper of the Year awards.

Nnadozie also made Nigeria proud by winning the Women’s Goalkeeper of the Year award. “I’m thrilled to receive this award, and I dedicate it to my team and coaches who have supported me throughout the year,” she said. Other notable winners included Sanaa Mssoudy, who won the Women’s Interclub Player of the Year award, and Lamine Camara, who took home the Men’s Young Player of the Year award.

The awards ceremony also recognized the achievements of teams and coaches. TP Mazembe won the Women’s Club of the Year award, while Al Ahly FC took home the Men’s Club of the Year award. Ivory Coast was named the Men’s National Team of the Year, and Nigeria won the Women’s National Team of the Year award.

In addition to these awards, several other outstanding players and coaches were recognized for their achievements. The Women’s Young Player of the Year award went to Doha El Madani, while Lamia Boumehdi won the Women’s Coach of the Year award. Emerse Fae took home the Men’s Coach of the Year award, and Angola’s Mabululu won the Goal of the Year award.

The Men’s Goalkeeper of the Year award, as mentioned earlier, went to Ronwen Williams, who had an exceptional year. The Women’s Goalkeeper of the Year award, also mentioned earlier, was won by Chiamaka Nnadozie, who was instrumental in Nigeria’s success.
