Akarigbo of Remoland Commends State Government for Inclusive Budget Meeting and Call for Infrastructure, Security, and Social Welfare Improvements
The Akarigbo and Paramount Ruler of Remoland, Oba Babatunde Ajayi, has praised the State Government for organizing an inclusive, participatory meeting aimed at gathering input for the proposed 2026-2028 Medium Term Expenditure Framework (MTEF). The meeting was held at the Akarigbo Palace in Sagamu.
Opening the session, Oba Ajayi described the initiative as a positive step, emphasizing that it allows the government to understand the aspirations, needs, and concerns of the people. He noted that this approach would facilitate greater inclusion of grassroots voices in the upcoming 2026 budget, thereby making governance more accessible and responsive.
Oba Ajayi also commended the current administration for the progress made in infrastructural development within Remoland. He highlighted that these developments would significantly impact commerce, transportation, and employment opportunities. However, he appealed for the rehabilitation of additional major roads across Remoland and called for support for local security vigilantes, who are diligently maintaining safety in the area.
Representing the chairmen of the three Local Governments in Remoland, Sagamu Local Government Chairman Hon. Jubril Odulate expressed gratitude to Prince Dapo Abiodun for the rehabilitation of roads such as Aiyepe and Ode-lemo. He further requested the construction of an overhead bridge at the Oba-Erinwole junction to Ewuoliwo, citing the area’s high traffic volatility caused by expressway interception.
Religious leaders also contributed, with CAN Chairman Rev Ogunjoju and Deputy Chief Imam of Remoland, Alhaji Munirudeen Thabit, urging the government to hire more teachers for religious subjects in schools, provide free meals for pupils to ease economic hardships, and increase sponsorship for prospective pilgrims for Hajj and Jerusalem trips.
Representing People with Disabilities (PWD), Engr. Oluwaseyi Adesiyan commended the administration for maintaining the Town Hall meetings and expressed hope that the government would implement the Disability Law and promote health insurance benefits to improve their welfare.
A student representative from Gateway ICT Polytechnic, Sapade, Comrade Ola Owoeyo, called for the provision of school buses to ease students’ transportation challenges and urged the government to enhance security measures in the area.
In her address, Mrs. Omotola Kadiri, Vice President of the Ogun State National Council of Women Society (NCWS), appealed for the inclusion of a women’s budget in the 2026 fiscal plan and for more empowerment programs targeting women.
Overall, the meeting served as a crucial platform for discussing socio-economic development issues, gathering community input, and shaping an effective and implementable budget for 2026.
