Alhaja Yewande Safrat Abeni Ogunbase Installed as Yeye Laafin of Oko Sagamu, Celebrates 50th Birthday

December 28, 2024, will forever be etched in the memory of Alhaja Yewande Safrat Abeni Ogunbase, popularly known as Trendy Wendy, as she was beaded and installed as the Yeye Laafin of Oko Sagamu by the Kabiyesi Aminisan of Oko Kingdom, Alayeluwa Oba Babatunde Odunayo.
The Installation ceremony, held at the palace of the Aminisan Oko in Sagamu, was a spectacle of tradition and culture, with royal fathers from Remoland in attendance. Notable monarchs present included Oba MS Lasisi Gisanri (Odofin Soyindo), Oba Sikiru Adesola Bello (Legunse of Ilupeju), Oba Solomon Adekunle (Alariye of Ariye), Oba Moshood Owodina (Oniraye of Iraye), and Oba Ogunsola Muyideen Oluseyi (Ayanperuwa of Sotubo).
Other distinguished guests included q representatives from the Ooni of Ife palace, Omooba Abiola Ogundeko, chiefs of Oko kingdom, political executives, family members, and well-wishers from Nigeria and the diaspora.
Traditional rites were performed, and the kings and other traditional rulers offered prayers for the newly installed Yeye Laafin, presenting her with the staff and certificate of office. This solemn ceremony was followed by a grand reception, celebrating not only her new title but also her 50th birthday.
The reception ceremony was a vibrant celebration, with the celebrant, Chief Mrs. Alhaja Yewande Safrat Abeni Ogunbase, dancing elegantly into the hall alongside her husband, children, and friends. The atmosphere was further electrified by the Fuji music of King (Dr.) Saheed Osupa, which kept guests on their feet.
The celebration culminated in a photo session, cake cutting, and heartfelt wishes, with guests dining and dancing into the night.
