In a colorful ceremony filled with admiration and heartfelt accolades, the Association of Primary School Teachers of Nigeria (Ikenne Local Government Chapter) has conferred an Award of Excellence on Hon. Soyoye Akinyode Solomon (popularly known as SAWI) for his outstanding contributions to education, community development, and the upliftment of grassroots education across Remo-land.

 

The event, held at the Ikenne LGA Secretariat, was attended by teachers, education stakeholders, traditional leaders, youth groups, and political observers, who gathered to witness the well-deserved recognition of a man widely regarded as a friend of the educational sector.

 

A Legacy of Impact

 

In her welcome address, the Chairperson of the Association, Mrs. Mrs Soyemi Stella Olusola, praised Hon. SAWI’s long-standing commitment to the cause of education, noting that through his support, several primary schools across the Remo axis have benefited from interventions such as:

 

* Distribution of learning materials

 

* Provision of instructional aids

 

* Support for teachers’ welfare and capacity building programs

 

“Hon. SAWI is not just a politician. He is an advocate of basic education. He understands that the foundation of national development lies in the primary school classroom. This award is our way of saying thank you for seeing us, supporting us, and believing in the work we do,” she said.

 

Hon. SAWI’s Response

 

While receiving the award, an emotional Hon. Soyoye Akinyode Solomon ably represented by the Education Committee Chairman of the Soyoye Akinyode Welfare Initiatives, Mr. Oluwole Folarin expressed his gratitude to the association, describing the honor as one of the most meaningful of his public career.

 

> “This award comes from the real builders of the future—our teachers. I am deeply honored. As someone who grew up valuing the power of education, I believe strongly that the growth of any society begins with its schools. You have my continued support—now and always,” he said.

 

 

He reaffirmed his commitment to the “Itesiwaju Remo” vision and pledged to continue advocating for increased investment in education, especially at the foundational level.

 

A Unified Voice for Progress

 

Speakers at the event described SAWI as a “bridge between the government and the people,” applauding his accessibility, humility, and results-driven approach to leadership. They urged other public service leaders to emulate his focus on sustainable community development and inclusive governance.

 

The ceremony ended with traditional dances, photo sessions, and a renewed sense of unity between educators and community leaders in Ikenne.

 

Hon. SAWI is leading a new era of progressive development in Remo-Land with experience and serving with Heart.
