Awujale Set to Confer Ogbeni Oja Title on Global Medical Expert, Sonny Folorunsho Kuku

In a distinguished ceremony scheduled for tomorrow, February 3, Oba Sikiru Kayode Adetona, the Awujale and Paramount Ruler of Ijebuland, will bestow the prestigious title of Ogbeni Oja of Ijebu Ode upon the esteemed global medical expert, Olor’Ogun Sonny Folorunsho Kuku. The event is set to commence at 10:00 a.m. at the Oba S.K. Adetona Royal Pavilion in Ijebu Ode.

Sonny Folorunsho Kuku, Chairman of Eko Hospitals Plc and an Officer of the Order of the Federal Republic (OFR), boasts an impressive array of achievements, including serving as the Pro Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council for the University of Lagos Alumni Association. Holding the titles of Olor’Ogun of Ijebu Ode and Chairman of Awujale Council of Chiefs, Kuku’s contributions to the community are widely recognized.

The Ogbeni Oja title, an esteemed chieftaincy, historically held by notable figures such as Chief Timothy Adeola Odutola and Chief Bayo Kuku, holds a unique position in Ijebu tradition. Bestowed upon a male freeborn of Ijebu, the Ogbeni Oja assumes a paramount role in the Awujale’s palace, acting on behalf of the ruler during interregnum, and retaining the title at the Awujale’s pleasure.
