Bode George Urges President Tinubu to Slash Fuel Price to N300 per Litre

A call has been made to President Bola Tinubu to reduce the pump price of petrol to N300 per litre. This appeal was made by Bode George, a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), during a press conference in Lagos on Wednesday.

George proposed that the reduced price should be in effect from mid-December to the end of January, allowing Nigerians to celebrate the festive season with some financial relief.

According to George, the months of December and January are crucial, and a reduction in fuel price would bring happiness to Nigerians across different tribes and homes. He emphasized that the government can absorb the losses, and if needed, well-meaning individuals and businesses could contribute to bear the cost.

“There are two months in any calendar year that are very important months. Whether you are a Christian, a Muslim, an atheist, or a traditionalist, it is common and it is all over the world,” George explained. “The months of December and January are the most important months. From the middle of December, at least to the end of January, the cost of petrol should be reduced to N300 per litre.”

George also referenced the First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu’s, recent donation of N1 billion to a university, suggesting that she could also contribute to help reduce the fuel price. He believes that this gesture would have a positive impact on the country, especially during the festive season.

“If Madam First Lady could donate N1 billion to a university, she could also donate into the coffers to bear this cost. What’s wrong? So that everybody will be able to sleep well with N300 per litre across the board,” George said.
