Buhari seeks Senate Approval of Additional $800m from World Bank
President Muhammadu Buhari on Wednesday asked the Senate to approve a new borrowing request of $800 million. Buhari made the request in a letter read by Senate President Ahmad Lawan at Tuesday’s plenary.
He thereafter led the Principal Officers into the Chamber where they took the official prayers and began the day’s proceedings.
Senator Kabiru Abdullahi Barkiya then moved for the adoption of the Votes and Proceedings of Tuesday, 9th May 2023.
Senator Nicholas Tofowomo seconded the motion after which votes and Proceedings of the day were, thereby, approved.
“Senate President Ahmad Lawan reads a letter from President Muhammdu Buhari, GCFR, requesting for the approval of additional financing of the National Social Safety Net Programme to the tune of $800 Million to be secured from the World Bank,” according to a tweet
