Burial and Outing Service Held for Madam Christianah Ademiro Olaide Samuel-Taiwo (Iya Olobi)
The burial and outing service of Madam Christianah Ademiro Olaide Samuel-Taiwo (A.K.A. Iya Olobi) was held on Friday, 19th September, 2025 at the Methodist Church, Oko, Sagamu, Diocese of Remo, Sagamu–Oko Circuit.
Madam Samuel-Taiwo, who passed away on Sunday, 26th August, 2025, at the remarkable age of 100 years, was celebrated as a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and a devout Christian.
The service was conducted under the leadership of the Rt. Revd. J. M. Bamidele Ibikunle, Bishop of Remo; the Very Revd. Samuel Oludayo Babalola, Circuit Presbyter/Minister In-Charge; and the Revd. Ipeni Michael Ode, Circuit Minister.
The program began with the meeting and reception of the body at the church entrance, followed by prayers, scripture readings, and words of exhortation.
The sermon was delivered by the Rt. Revd. J. M. Bamidele Ibikunle, who spoke on the aftermath of life and the inevitability of death, reminding the congregation of the need for God’s people to live in readiness. He emphasized the importance of walking in the ways of God and serving Him faithfully.
He also reflected on the life of the deceased, describing her as a mother to many, an active member of the church even in her old age, and a woman who made meaningful contributions to the growth of the church and community. He urged the younger generation to emulate her steadfastness, faith, and selfless service.
After the church service, the outing service was held, marked with thanksgiving to God for her long and fruitful life. This was followed by a private interment service, where Madam Samuel-Taiwo was finally laid to rest amidst prayers and words of committal.
The occasion was both solemn and
celebratory, a fitting farewell to a centenarian who touched many lives through faith, family, and community service.
