Burna Boy Accuses Nigeria Music Industry Gatekeepers of Sabotaging His Career

Grammy-winning artist Burna Boy has alleged that gatekeepers within the Nigerian music industry have made significant efforts to hinder his career progress. He made these comments in response to a viral clip from a recent interview with music veteran Obi Asika, who noted that certain industry figures attempted to derail Burna Boy’s success, but he managed to overcome these obstacles and achieve international fame.

In an Instagram comment on a blog post featuring the interview, Burna Boy expressed, “This is just a glimpse of the story. They did everything they could to break me, and they continue to try. Lol. But all they created was an unquenchable fire that will burn them for eternity.”

Burna Boy first gained national attention with his hit song “Like To Party” from his debut album “L.I.F.E (Leaving an Impact for Eternity).” Following initial success, his career faced challenges, relegating him to underground status for several years. However, he saw a resurgence in international popularity with his breakthrough single “Ye,” from the acclaimed album “Outside.”

Since then, Burna Boy has regained the support of Nigerian fans and has established himself as the leading touring African artist in recent years.
