Celebrating 60 Sparkling Years: Wole Awe Hosts Charity Golf Event at Lafarge Golf Course, Sagamu

Today, on the 20th of April, 2024, friends, family, and associates gathered at the Lafarge Golf Course in Sagamu to celebrate the 60th birthday of Wole Awe, affectionately known as “Wolus Wolus.” What began as a birthday party evolved into a day of camaraderie and giving back to the community through a charity golf event dubbed “60 Sparkles of 6ixes.”

The festivities commenced with teams of golf enthusiasts taking to the course to compete in a friendly tournament, setting the stage for a day filled with excitement and celebration. Following the golf tournament, attendees gathered for a special moment as the “Igbobi Boys,” Wole Awe’s school friends, serenaded the crowd with their anthem, reminiscing about cherished memories from their youth.

As the event unfolded, Wole Awe took the opportunity to address the audience, expressing gratitude for the opportunity to share this milestone with loved ones. He emphasized that the charity event was not about him but rather about coming together to make a positive impact in the community. With the support of generous sponsors and attendees, the “60 Sparkles of 6ixes” initiative aims to fund the education of 60 selected pupils in primary school, ensuring they have access to quality education and a brighter future.

Highlighting the spirit of unity and giving, Wole Awe thanked everyone for their contributions and commitment to the cause. The event culminated in the cutting of the birthday cake, accompanied by heartfelt renditions of the happy birthday song. Prizes were then awarded to participants who demonstrated exceptional skill on the golf course, further adding to the festive atmosphere.

Among the recipients of the prizes were Ms. Aromona and Desmond M, who received recognition for the longest drive, and Fumbi Ogunjimi and Amaka Robert, who excelled in the nearest to the pitch category. Additionally, veteran golfer Tajudeen Saka and runner-up Michael Ibigbami were acknowledged for their outstanding performances.

As the day came to a close, attendees departed with cherished memories of a joyous celebration and a renewed commitment to making a difference in the lives of others.
