Cholera Outbreak Hits Ijebu North Local Government Area in Ogun State

In a recent update from the Ogun State Ministry of Health, it has been reported that there is an outbreak of cholera (Aarun òní gbá méjì) in the Ijebu North Local Government area of Ogun State.
Cholera, which is known to occur during the rainy season and is often associated with poor environmental conditions and personal hygiene practices, has become a cause for concern in the region.
The ministry is a statement urged all citizens of Ogun State to take immediate action by reporting any cases of stooling with or without vomiting to the nearest government health facility and notifying the local government area (LGA) authorities. It is also crucial to prioritize personal and environmental hygiene, including frequent handwashing, using water from clean sources, treating water before use, boiling water before drinking, and ensuring thorough washing and cooking of food.
The Ogun State Ministry of Health, led by Dr. Tomi Coker, Special Adviser to the Governor on Health, emphasizes the importance of collective efforts to prevent the spread of cholera. Citizens are urged to be cautious about the food and water they consume, as cholera can be caused by water or food contaminated with feces.
