Commercial motorcyclists in Ibafo, Magboro, Aseese, and Arepo of Ogun State have rejected the introduction of a new N100 ticket by their unions, the Amalgamated Commercial Motorcycle Owners (ACOMORAN) and Riders Association of Nigeria, Riders and Owners of Motorcycle Organisation, and Articulated Motorcycle and Riders Association of Nigeria. The ticket was introduced by persons suspected to be working for the unions, and the payment will make the total remission N700 daily as opposed to the N600 at present.

The Okada riders have expressed their displeasure with the unions over the planned hike in the ticket fee. An Okada rider, Joseph Nwaka, lamented that the increment was too much, considering the current economic situation. Chairman of ACOMORAN, Folorunsho Balogun, said that he was aware of the increment, but the directive came from the local government chairman.

The rejection of the new ticket fee by commercial motorcyclists is understandable, given the current economic situation in the country. The unions should also consider the plight of the Okada riders and work towards a better solution that will be acceptable to all parties.
