COMMUNITY PROTESTS IMPOSITION OF MONARCH AS ANCIENT CROWNS OF THE VACANT STOOL OF OWA OF IGBAJO GO MISSING

A community in Osun State, Igbajo, in Boluwaduro Local Government, yesterday cried out that all the traditional crowns of the town were missing.

The people of the community, who staged a protest at Osogbo, the state capital, warned Governor Adegboyega Oyetola not to support the plan to impose the Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Prince Gboyega Famodun, as the next Owa of Igbajoland

A leader of the ruling house, Mr. Gbenga Akande, said the crowns were supposed to be kept with Baba Looye of Igbajo after the demise of a king, until another king ascended the throne, but the crowns were missing.

He said: “Igbajo traditional crowns are missing and other royal paraphernalia supposed to be at Baba Looye’s house are not there. They are missing.

“I was there when they brought out the crowns from the palace and I asked the elders where we were taking the crowns to, but they said I should not worry.

“During our monthly meetings, I raised an issue about the crowns and asked where they took them to, but they couldn’t give me any answer. The case concerning Igbajo stool is still in court, but some people are bent on imposing someone on us.”
