CYFI in Conjunction with United States Consulate Hold Literacy Project Symposium for Girl Child
Carrington Youth Fellowship International collaborated with the United States Consulate to host a literary symposium to commemorate World Book Day, on Thursday, 27th April at the Ewusi Palace, Makun, Sagamu.
The program, titled “Emboldening the Voice of Girls Through Literacy”, marked the end of a literacy project for girls in public primary schools carried out by CYFI.
The keynote speaker of the event, Dr. Mrs. Fatungase, emphasized on the importance of investing in the girl child and the essence of women in today’s world.
“This is an initiative that I support so much because every minute we must always create the consciousness that every girl child must have access to education. This is a massive way of empowering them for what is to come in the future.
“Not only for the girl child but also, their parents need to understand the importance and advantages of education” she added.
Due to the great success of the initiative, Miss Grace Anuforo said that CYFI is considering extending the project to other secondary schools across Ogun State.
Gracing the symposium are students from various Public schools in Sagamu, members of the NYSC, parents of beneficiaries, and many others.
