Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun, has emphasized the urgent need to address the growing concern of Almajiri and out-of-school children in Nigeria. This issue, which poses a significant threat to national stability, requires immediate attention and collective action.

In a recent meeting with the National Commission for Almajiri and Out-of-School Children’s Education, Governor Abiodun stressed the importance of collaborative efforts to tackle this national issue. He acknowledged that despite Ogun State’s relatively lower numbers, statistics indicate higher percentages of out-of-school children in the state, partly due to the influx of people moving into the area.

To address this challenge, Governor Abiodun pledged to collaborate with Southern Governors to replicate initiatives in their respective states, ensuring a coordinated approach.

He also committed to supporting the Commission with resources, including office accommodation and a dedicated liaison, to achieve its objectives.

“As the Chairman of the Southern Governors’ Forum (SGF), we pledge to work closely with our counterparts to replicate similar initiatives in their respective states, ensuring a coordinated approach to tackle this national issue. We will also support the Commission with resources, including office accommodation and a dedicated liaison, to help achieve its objectives in addressing the menace of out-of-school children.” Governor Dapo Abiodun partly said in a statement.
