The 2026 Academy Awards nominations have been officially announced, highlighting a remarkable year in film. Topping the list is the film *Sinners*, which set a new record with 16 nominations, breaking the previous high held by classics like *All About Eve*, *Titanic*, and *La La Land*. This achievement cements *Sinners* as the frontrunner of this awards season.

 

Following closely is *One Battle After Another*, with 13 nominations, while films like *Marty Supreme*, *Frankenstein*, and *Sentimental Value* each received nine nods. Additionally, *Hamnet* secured eight nominations, showcasing a diverse and competitive field.

 

The 97th Academy Awards is scheduled for March 15, with comedian Conan O’Brien set to host the star-studded event. The nominations span various categories, including Best Picture, acting, directing, and screenplay.

 

For Best Picture, nominees include *Bugonia*, *F1: The Movie*, *Frankenstein*, *Hamnet*, *Marty Supreme*, *One Battle After Another*, *The Secret Agent*, *Sentimental Value*, *Sinners*, and *Train Dreams*. In acting categories, Timothée Chalamet, Leonardo DiCaprio, Ethan Hawke, Michael B. Jordan, and Wagner Moura vie for Best Actor, while Jessie Buckley, Rose Byrne, Kate Hudson, Renate Reinsve, and Emma Stone are in the running for Best Actress.

 

Supporting roles feature Benicio del Toro, Jacob Elordi, Delroy Lindo, Sean Penn, Stellan SkarsgĂĄrd, Elle Fanning, and others. Notably, Wunmi Mosaku and Teyana Taylor received nominations for supporting roles.

 

In directing, Chloe Zhao, Josh Safdie, Paul Thomas Anderson, Joachim Trier, and Ryan Coogler are recognized. The screenplay categories include original works like *Blue Moon* and *Marty Supreme*, as well as adapted scripts such as *Bugonia* and *Hamnet*.

 

Other categories include animated features, with titles like *Arco* and *Zootopia 2*, and documentaries, such as *The Alabama Solution* and *Mr Nobody Against Putin*. The international film category features entries from Brazil, France, Norway, and Spain, emphasizing the global reach of this year’s nominations.
