Dr. Ajoke Pero SOFOWORA, Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of Boltek Systems Limited, has paid glowing tribute to her longtime friend and sister, Dr. (Mrs.) Oluwatoyin Sakirat MADEIN as she celebrates her 61st birthday alongside the public presentation of her book and the launch of the Olowo Oloye Foundation.
In a heartfelt message marking the milestone, Dr. SOFOWORA described Dr. MADEIN as a woman of extraordinary character whose life has been defined by service, integrity, and an unwavering commitment to uplifting others.
Reflecting on their enduring friendship which began in childhood, Dr. SOFOWORA recalled that their bond dates back to 1965 when they first met as young girls growing up in the same community. According to her, their shared upbringing and membership in the Blessed Bomode Oku Society laid the foundation for a lifelong friendship that has continued to flourish over the decades.
“We grew together, attended Christ Apostolic Grammar School together, and shared many dreams. When she later married my cousin, it simply confirmed what we already knew in our hearts that we were family in every sense of the word,” she stated.
Dr. SOFOWORA noted that the friendship between them, fondly expressed in the phrase “Yer’omomi,” has been one built on mutual support, encouragement, and steadfast loyalty through life’s various seasons.
She particularly acknowledged the role Dr. MADEIN played during her own doctoral journey, describing her as a steady pillar of encouragement during challenging moments.
“When I was completing my Doctorate programme and the weight felt heavy, she stood beside me not with noise but with quiet assurance. She believed in me even on days I doubted myself. That is who she is, a lifter, a builder, and a woman who pours into others without keeping score,” SOFOWORA said.
Beyond their personal relationship, Dr. SOFOWORA praised Dr. MADEIN’s remarkable professional achievements and national service. She described her as a trailblazer who made history as Nigeria’s first female Accountant-General of the Federation, serving with dignity, integrity, and an uncompromising commitment to excellence.
According to her, Dr. MADEIN demonstrated that leadership is not defined by volume but by values, consistency, and impact.
While acknowledging her distinguished public service career, Dr. SOFOWORA emphasized that what inspires her most about Dr. MADEIN is her compassionate spirit and dedication to humanitarian causes.
She highlighted Dr. MADEIN’s passion for supporting widows, empowering the girl-child, strengthening communities, and maintaining friendships that have endured for decades.
As Dr. MADEIN marks her 61st birthday and one year post-retirement from public service, Dr. SOFOWORA said the launch of the Olowo Oloye Foundation signals a new chapter of even greater societal impact.
“The launch of the Olowo Oloye Foundation is proof that purpose does not retire, it expands,” she noted.
Dr. SOFOWORA, the Chairman of the planning committee for the triad event, also congratulated her friend on the public presentation of her new book titled “Beyond the Ledger: A Journey in Public Finance and Governance,” describing the publication as a significant contribution to the discourse on governance, financial management, and leadership in the public sector.
According to her, the book provides not only professional insight but also a rich account of experience, wisdom, and lessons gathered from years of shaping systems and mentoring future leaders.
Offering prayers and goodwill, Dr. SOFOWORA wished Dr. MADEIN continued peace, joy, and lasting legacy.
“May your days be filled with peace. May your home overflow with joy. May your legacy outlive you in generations you may never meet. May heaven continue to honour the seeds you have sown in silence,” she prayed.
She concluded by expressing deep appreciation for their enduring friendship.
“Thank you for loving me. Thank you for standing by me. Thank you for being you. Congratulations, my sister. The world is better because you were born,” she said.
