Easter Alert: FRSC Urges Motorists to Avoid Reckless Driving
In preparation for a smooth Easter celebration, the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Lagos Sector Command, has deployed officers, personnel, and operational vehicles throughout the state, including two new patrol vehicles donated by the Lagos State Government via the Lagos State Security Trust Fund.
Sector Commander, Corps Commander Kehinde Hamzat, made this announcement during a media briefing conducted along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway as part of a monitoring tour.
In a statement released on Friday by Sector Public Education Officer Elizabeth Jayeola, the sector commander emphasized the FRSC’s commitment to ensuring the safety of all road users during the 2025 Easter festivities.
“Regular and Special Marshals have been strategically stationed along major highways, inner roads, and festive routes to facilitate smooth vehicular movement and guarantee safety for everyone throughout the Easter period,” Hamzat explained.
He also indicated that standby ambulances would be stationed along key corridors for prompt emergency response and rescue operations. “We will have ambulances on standby to ensure swift emergency response and rescue efforts,” he added.
Additionally, Hamzat noted that the FRSC is working closely with relevant traffic and emergency stakeholders to manage the flow of traffic in and out of Lagos during the holiday season.
To enhance compliance with traffic regulations, mobile courts will be available to promptly address traffic violations, particularly those that pose higher risks. “Mobile courts will be operational to ensure immediate prosecution of traffic offenders, focusing on serious violations such as drunk driving, speeding, expired tyres, seat belt violations, and the use of phones while driving,” he stated.
He urged motorists to strictly follow traffic rules and cooperate with law enforcement during the holiday. “Drivers must avoid alcohol or drugs while behind the wheel. One night of fun should not lead to a lifetime of regret. Ensure your vehicle is in good condition, drive carefully, and remember, your loved ones are waiting for you,” he cautioned.
Hamzat also advised pedestrians and other vulnerable road users to stay vigilant, avoid unsafe crossing behaviors, and remain aware of their traffic surroundings. “The FRSC Lagos is dedicated to ensuring a crash-free celebration and encourages all residents to contribute to this goal,” the statement concluded.
